Journalist

Kieran Meadows is a multimedia journalist with knowledge and experience in broadcast TV, radio, digital/web and film. With exceptionally strong audio and video production and post-production skills and reporting/writing ability, he's able to step into almost any role in journalism, whether it's editorial, production or technical. As an experienced teacher/mentor, he values clear communication, active listening and teamwork in any professional setting.

After earning his B.A. in Film Studies and African American Studies from Wesleyan University, he decided to work in documentary film and television, first working for Big Mouth Productions and Arts Engine, and soon after, at Jon Alpert and Keiko Tsuno's Downtown Community TV Center. During his time at Democracy Now! and Fairness & Accuracy In Reporting, he became more interested in news and journalism, a seamless transition from documentary filmmaking. He earned his M.A. in Journalism from the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in 2009.

During his 15+ year professional journalism career, he’s written, reported, directed and produced for Forbes, Red Bull Music Academy, ABC News, LargeUp.com and Democracy Now!. He has been a Producer/Editor with Forbes' video team for over a decade, and in that time he's shot, produced and edited hundreds of videos. He has also directed videos and written articles. In 2016, he told the definitive story of the first five years of the influential music collective/label, Soulection. Since 2022, he’s been the Editor & Host (i.e. the voice) of the Forbes Daily Briefing seven days a week.

Kieran served as a consultant and associate producer on the independent feature documentary, Bad Like Brooklyn Dancehall (2023), which was an official selection at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival. The doc was the recipient of the 2023 Better Angels Lavine Fellowship (a component of The Library of Congress Lavine/Ken Burns Prize for Film) and was the winner of the 2022 Gotham Documentary Award from Decentralized Pictures Foundation.

His unique perspective within the media world has been informed by having spent over 12 years at Forbes and also 15 years at Democracy Now!, where he worked on the production team of the morning live TV broadcast. He has been privileged to work up close and personal with and alongside folks of diverse backgrounds and means: from grassroots activists to entrepreneurs, CEO's and billionaires, from celebrities and famous musicians to up and coming artists, from government officials to local folks on the block, Kieran treats everyone with the same kindness and respect.
